EggTally Privacy Policy

Effective 29 October 2026

EggTally has no account, no ads and no tracking, and we never sell data. Your flock’s records live on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, where AW Labs cannot see them. The only thing we receive is anonymous usage counts that help us improve the app.

Your flock’s records

Everything you enter in EggTally (birds, egg counts, photos, expenses, sales, health notes, reminders and hatches) is stored on your device. If iCloud is turned on for EggTally, the app also keeps a copy in the private database of your own iCloud account, through Apple’s CloudKit, so your records sync to your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple ID. AW Labs has no server of its own for this data and cannot see, read or recover it.

You stay in control. Deleting the app removes its records from your device, and you can turn off iCloud for EggTally, or delete its iCloud data, in the iPhone Settings app under your name → iCloud. Apple handles iCloud data under Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Anonymous usage analytics

EggTally uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU, to learn in aggregate how the app is used, so we can improve it. It receives a short, fixed list of event names, such as “egg logged”, “bird added”, “backup created” or “paywall shown”, with simple counts and categories (for example how an egg was logged, an expense category, or how many birds are in the app), whether Pro is unlocked, and basic technical details such as the app version, iOS version and device model. When Pro is bought or restored, it receives that purchase event from Apple’s StoreKit.

It never receives bird names, notes, photos, the amounts you enter, buyers, or your location. There is no advertising identifier. Each install is represented by a random identifier that is hashed before it leaves the device, so the data cannot be tied to you. In Apple’s App Store privacy terms this is Product Interaction, not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.

Purchases

EggTally Pro is a one-time in-app purchase made through Apple’s App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. AW Labs never sees your payment details or your Apple ID; the app only asks Apple whether Pro has been bought.

Notifications

The daily log reminder, care reminders and hatch alerts are local notifications, scheduled by iOS on your device. Nothing is sent to us to make them work, and you can turn them off in the iPhone Settings app.

Backups and spreadsheet files

A backup file or CSV export is created only when you choose to make one, and it goes wherever you send or save it through the iPhone share sheet. We never receive it. Files you import are read on your device.

Photos and camera

EggTally asks for photo library or camera access only when you add a photo of a bird. The photos you pick are stored with your records, on your device and in your iCloud as described above.

What we do not collect

  • No account, sign-in, name, email address or phone number.
  • No contacts, location or advertising identifier.
  • No ads or ad networks, and no data sold or shared for advertising.
  • No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Children

EggTally is rated 4+ and made for a general audience. We do not collect personal information from anyone, including children; the only data we receive is the anonymous analytics described above.

Your rights

Because the analytics are anonymous, we hold nothing that can be linked to you, and your records are in your own iCloud rather than with us. If you have a question, or want to exercise a right you have under your local law (such as the GDPR or CCPA), email us and we will help.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
